Benefit fraud

A Kirk Michael man who was caught working on a farm while claiming incapacity benefits has admitted six offences of making false statements.

The High Bailiff Michael Moyle adjourned sentence on 41 year old Geoffrey McLoughlan of Cooil Avenue.

McLoughlan was overpaid around ?6,000 in a 17 month period.

The Department of Health and Social Security received information he was working on a farm in the village.

A watch was kept and he was seen arriving and leaving the farm.

McLoughlan was bailed until January the 30th.
