?4 million for the Castle Mona?

It was suggested at a meeting last night that ?4 million would be the asking price for the Castle Mona hotel and complex.

Politicians, including the new Tourism Minister Adrian Earnshaw, hoteliers and other interested parties were at the Villa Marina to hear what progress had been made over the future of the hotel.

It went into voluntary liquidation at the end of last year.

The meeting was told one aim of the gathering was to prevent the complex being demolished.

Tourism Director Geoff Le Page said the preferred option was for the hotel, which is registered, to be upgraded to four star.

East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell was asked if a ?4 million price tag would put potential buyers off? (audio file attached):
