An independent Manx FA?

The Isle of Man FA says it doesn’t want to be simply a marketing tool for the Island.

Liberal Vannin Party leader Peter Karran had suggested breaking ties with England could mean the Manx team gets high-profile ties with international sides.

But Tony Mepham of the Island’s FA says the English Football Association pours hundreds of thousands of pounds of funding into the sport here.

And he says the prospects of taking on full-time footballers playing for Brazil, France or Italy might not bring the sort of publicity politicians want.
