Actor apologises after outburst

by isleofman.com 11th January 2007
A film star who insulted many people in the Isle of Man has apologised for his outburst in an interview with a United Kingdom newspaper.

Danny Dyer (pictured) was in the Island to film Severance, which was released on DVD this week, and in a foul-mouthed interview last year insulted the Manx flag and people.

He described the Island as 'lots of horrible little towns where everyone looks like they've been doing their cousins for generations'.

But in an interview with the national free paper Metro yesterday, he seemed to have a change of heart.

Jason Roberts reports (text from audio file attached):

The British actor spent four weeks in the Island in 2005 filming the horror movie, and made his comments in an Irish magazine.

But on Monday he retracted his statements, saying he'd realised he'd upset the Island.

He admitted: 'I do tend to open my mouth a little bit. I didn’t mean it. They’re alright, the Isle of Man. You can drive from one end to the other in 40 minutes.

'It’s a crazy little place but they’re very proud of their rock. They make a lot of films there, they’re good to the film game. I was just a bit homesick'.
