Milntown trustees announce ambitious plans

The Milntown Estate, an historic house with beautiful grounds, is a well known landmark in the north of the Island, but one which has been off-limits to the general public.

However, that is set to change thanks to ambitious plans by the estate's trustees to open its gates to visitors from Easter next year.

Previous owner Sir Clive Edwards left the estate in trust for the benefit of the Manx people.

Although much needs to be done before visitors could tour the house, the public will have access to 23 acres of gardens and parklands, a working mill and collections of vintage cars and motorcycles.

Trustee Charles Guard says the first priority is to establish a much needed tea room (audio file attached):
