January Tynwald agenda

by isleofman.com 5th January 2007
Manx Radio will be back in the political spotlight at the January sitting of Tynwald.

Members will be asked to approve a report by the Value for Money Committee, which recommends the continued payment of an annual subvention to the national broadcaster.

Kate Skinner has been looking at the order paper:

The Treasury Minister will ask members to approve funding of ?933,000 for the financial year 2007-2008, subject to annual review based on inflationary considerations.

Other recommendations would require Manx Radio to provide a business case comparing the cost of relocation to that of extending the existing building on Douglas Head, and consider appointing an employee with strong professional accounting skills.

Elsewhere on the order paper, and with the Centenary TT only months away, members will be asked to approve spending of ?500,000 on improvements to the Grandstand complex on Glencrutchery Road, and the Department of Transport's North Quay enhancement scheme will rely on members backing expenditure of ?1.2 million.
