New prison update

by isleofman.com 4th January 2007
The Home Affairs Minister, Martyn Quayle, is hopeful work on the outside of the new prison will resume on Monday.

Earlier we revealed a site inspection at the ?41.7 million Jurby scheme by Health and Safety officials, led to work being halted.

Unsafe scaffolding was cited as the reason.

Mr Quayle says high winds during the Christmas break had led to the problem, and the scaffolding should be secure by Monday when the majority of workers return after their seasonal break.

Other building work on the site is being continued by contractor O'Hare and McGovern.
