EMI unit seeks approval

by isleofman.com 4th January 2007
A proposal to build an elderly mentally infirm unit in Farmhill is due to go before Tynwald within the next few months.

Subject to political approval, the EMI unit will be constructed on a site alongside 21 homes by developer Heritage Homes.

The controversial planning application was given the go-ahead last month.

Although not opposed to an EMI unit, more than 200 residents in the area objected to the housing plans as the site is home to a number of protected habitats.

Heritage Homes has been told it must ensure the ecological value of the site is managed.
