Singer still hopeful

Friends of Ramsey Cottage Hospital says they are still hopeful the site can have a 24-hour emergency service restored despite an overall DHSS overspend.

The department is said to be ?5.4 million over budget this year, leading to speculation campaigners will have to wait even longer before getting a round the clock minor injuries unit for the North.

But chairman of the Friends group, former MLC Leonard Singer (pictured), says members want to work with the department to ensure the service is restored.

And he says he has confidence in the new Health Minister Eddie Teare:
