New Year Honours

by isleofman.com 30th December 2006
Two Isle of Man residents have been awarded MBEs in the Queen's New Year Honours.

They are recently elected West Douglas MHK Geoff Corkish and the former Head of the Meteorological Office at Ronaldsway, Brian Rae.

Both have received recognition for service to the community in the Island and Mr Rae's role as a weather forecaster is also acknowledged.

Mr Rae says he couldn't believe it when he found out about the award: (Clip 1)

Mr Corkish says the award shows recognition not only for himself, but for the Island as a whole: |(clip 2)
