Civil defence presentation

by isleofman.com 29th December 2006
The Isle of Man’s civil defence staff have been presented with a plaque by an Irish council’s civil defence workers in recognition of close bonds which have lasted for 17 years.

Commandant Noel Bourke of Kilkenny County Civil Defence in the Republic of Ireland, presented the plaque to the Island's Emergency Planning Officer, Martin Blackburn.

The two civil defence forces have shared training exercises and Mr Blackburn (pictured) says it’s useful to learn from counterparts elsewhere (audio file attached):

The plaque will go on display at the Department of Home Affairs’ reception at Homefield on Woodbourne Road, Douglas.
