Water main burst

by isleofman.com 28th December 2006
A burst water main has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage in a furniture warehouse in Peel.

The six inch main above the Mill Road complex in Peel burst in the early house of this morning.

Water Authority engineers isolated the effected main and it's understood only two premises in the area are still without supplies.

The ground floor of Paradise and Gell's warehouse in the Mill Road complex was flooded with several inches of muddy water, ruining much of the stock stored there.

The water has now been pumped out by fire services, and a spokesman for the company says whilst the accident has occurred at a very busy time of year, fortunately goods on the first floor of the building were not damaged.
