Gibb and Blair

by isleofman.com 29th December 2006
Robin Gibb, the Manx-born Bee-Gees star who is returning to live on the Island, makes the headlines again today.

Controversy has surrounded UK Prime Minister Tony Blair's holiday at the pop star's Florida villa.

Critics of Mr Blair believe he's taking advantage of his position to enjoy free family holidays at the homes of wealthy Labour supporters, famous personalities and statesmen in other countries.

There was uproar in 2004 when he accepted a holiday invitation from former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Mr Gibb, who has bought a house on the outskirts of Peel, has expressed his support for the Labour party and first took the stage with Mr Blair during an election rally in 2005.

Mr Blair said the Bee Gee was "one of his heroes".

Downing Street has this morning (Thurs) stated that Mr Blair would be paying for his stay at the Bee Gee's Miami home.
