Jail for motoring offences

by isleofman.com 27th December 2006
A 34 year old man has been warned he almost certainly faces jail for three motoring offences.

Paul Henry Campbell of Hazel Crescent in Pulrose admitted driving whilst disqualified, failing to provide a specimen, and driving without insurance.

Inspector Nigel Shimmin, prosecuting, said Campbell was stopped at 10pm in Pulrose Road on November 8.

Officers were concerned about his erratic driving and knew he’d been banned.

After he was arrested, he failed to register on the breathalyser, claiming he had asthma, and declined to give a blood sample.

Although he offered to give a urine sample, police declined to accept it.

His advocate claimed he had a fear of needles, but the High Bailiff said Campbell had some similar convictions.

He will be sentenced on January 16 and was warned a custodial sentence is likely.
