Smith bailed on driving charges

Sentence on a 34 year old man has been adjourned by the High Bailiff for reports.

Gary David Smith of Heather Lane, Douglas, admitted driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.

Sergeant Steven Maddox said Smith was disqualified on April 18th of this year for 12 months.

He was seen on November the second driving on Woodbourne Road, Douglas. Police stopped him at Woodbourne Square.

Officers spoke to Smith, who told him that he thought he had only been banned for six months, and he had been driving his employers vehicle since October.

His advocate said Smith genuinely believed that it was a six month ban which was imposed. Mr Moyle bailed him until January 16th
