Farmhill - surprise reversal of planning

by isleofman.com 20th December 2006
Heritage Homes has been given the green light to proceed with a controversial development in Farmhill.

Despite opposition from more than 200 residents in the area, the developer's been granted permission at appeal to build 21 homes and an elderly mentally infirm unit.

The proposals had been refused on environmental grounds by the government’s planning committee, but former Local Government Minister John Rimington reversed the decision following an independent inspector’s recommendation.

Liberal Vannin South Douglas MHK, Bill Malarkey (picture), a member of the group set up to oppose the plans, is bitterly disappointed.
