Need for holistic education - Minister

The new Education Minister wants to see schools produce good citizens not just top exam results.

Anne Craine was given the position by Chief Minister Tony Brown, after being re-elected as a Ramsey MHK in November's General Election.

Mrs Craine, who's been on the board of education, thinks too much emphasis is placed on tests, and supports a more holistic approach to schooling.

She says there is a place for measurement of success, but top grades aren't necessarily relevent to everyone, or the long term development of the Manx workforce:
