A Ramsey man who punched his uncle has been placed on probation by the High Bailiff for 18 months.

Peter William George Gawne of Lower Queen's Pier Road appeared for sentence after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm.

Stuart Peters has the details

(Text of attached audio)
The assault occurred at the Royal George Hotel in Ramsey at 8pm on April 30th.

Following alleged comments made by a John Blanchard, the defendant's uncle, about Gawne's family, Gawne lost his temper and punched him twice in the face.

Mr Blanchard was removed to hospital where he received treatment for facial injuries.

His advocate said the defendant, who had no previous convictions, simply snapped after insulting comments were made about his family.
