Oldest resident dies

by isleofman.com 16th December 2006
Tribute has been paid to a much-loved priest whose funeral was held at Rushen Parish Church yesterday (Friday).

The Reverend William Ackroyd of Port St Mary passed away in Noble’s Hospital last week at the age of 106.

He was believed to be the oldest male resident in the Island.

One of his daughters, Deirdre Croker, said one of the secrets of her father’s longevity was a sweet tooth.
