Falsified taxi firm accounts
A man who falsified accounts whilst working for a taxi firm has been fined a total of ?2,500 by the High Bailiff.

Peter John Lewis, 62, of Queen's Promenade, Ramsey, admitted two offences.

Sergeant Darren Bradford, prosecuting, said the defendant worked at base control for Crennell's garage in Ramsey.

The General Manager, Juan Qualtrough, discovered possible malpractice resulting in an audit of the books showing a large discrepancy with fares.

Police were called and the defendant was arrested on August 3rd. He admitted taking some fares and failing to register them in the duty log book.

His advocate said the defendant had a good employment record with no previous convictions.

He was not the prime instigator he found himself in a trap taking the lead from others.

Mr Moyle also ordered him to pay ?2,700 compensation.
