Sulby resident happy with flood defences

A woman whose home in Sulby was badly damaged by two major floods in the space of three years is confident new defences will prevent a recurrence of the problem.

Mary Webb was speaking after the completion of a ?1.2 million government scheme to protect properties in Carrick Park and Mill Race.

Flood walls (pictured) have been built along both banks of the Sulby River, along with a storage lake upstream.

And Mrs. Webb is hopeful she and her husband won't have to face the same devastation again:
