Inquest on visitor from Leeds

by isleofman.com 13th December 2006
A verdict of accidental death has been returned on a 58 year-old Leeds man.

Edward Arthur Johnson sustained multiple injuries in an accident on the main Peel to Douglas road at the Glen Vine Road junction at the end of August.

He was crushed between his own motorbike and a car driven by Kevin Ballakrishna of Glen Vine Road.

Witnesses said it was a low speed collision, a fact confirmed by accident investigator, PC Duncan Livingstone.

The court heard how Mr Ballakrishna was adamant he did indicate to turn into the road – none of the witnesses were able to say whether he did or not.

PC Livingstone said it was extremely unfortunate as he had attended similar accidents when the injuries sustained had been minor.

Coroner Michael Moyle said it was a tragic accident and offered his condolences to Mr Johnson’s family.
