by isleofman.com 13th December 2006
A 46 year old man has been placed on probation for two years by the High Bailiff.

David John McDonald of Cronk y Berry Avenue, Douglas, who appeared for sentence after admitting an assault charge, was told it was a direct alternative to three months in custody.

McDonald returned home at 7.20pm on August 19th after spending time out drinking. The court hear his wife had also been drinking and there was a heated argument. The defendant grabbed his wife and she hit an armchair before falling against a pane of glass which caused a deep laceration to her thigh. The injury required surgery.

The defendant's advocate said it was a reckless action not a deliberate one.
