Ballasalla bypass

The new member of the House of Keys for Malew and Santon is suggesting six years is too long to wait for a road to enable traffic to bypass the village of Ballasalla.

In Tynwald yesterday Graham Cregeen was told the cost of construction would be ?5.5 million and the earliest it could be ready for use would be two 2012.

Transport Minister Phil Braidwood said the scheme had been submitted to Treasury for consideration and preliminary talks had taken place with land and property owners in the area.

However, Mr Cregeen (pictured) says there are already serious problems, and something needs to be done soon or it will get worse:
