New youth initiative

"No one ever listens to what we think .."

A familiar complaint from society's young people.

But it could be a thing of the past, if a bold new project to give youngsters a greater say in the issues which affect them, proves a success.

Join In, Speak Up is a new initiative just launched by the Island's Youth Service.

In future, young people will help shape strategy - by taking the leadership of some adult-led management committees.

There are also plans for young people's forums across the Island, north, south, east and west - where youngsters can raise concerns.

Director of Education John Cain says another exciting project is also in the pipeline:
