Chief Minister election

Tynwald's lack of unanimity in this week's Chief Minister election showed members didn't share his vision for the Isle of Man's future.

So says disappointed West Douglas MHK, John Shimmin, who wasn't surprised at the stalemate involving him, Garff MHK, Steve Rodan and Michael MHK, David Cannan.

According to Mr Shimmin, there had been a lot of lobbying behind the scenes to spoil ballot papers, and bring new candidates forward.

But despite his disappointment, Mr Shimmin says he's ready for the next five years, in whatever his role ends up being:
