Armed police response in Union Mills

by isleofman.com 7th December 2006
Armed officers were called to an incident in Union Mills last night (Wed).

They attended a property in Strang Close where residents in adjacent properties were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.

Exact details of the incident have not yet been released as there is an ongoing investigation by the officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, but one man was arrested

Inspector Sid Caine says the incident was contained within a single house and there was never a threat to other members of the community. He has thanked local residents for their co-operation, patience and understanding. Some were unable to return home until the matter had been resolved.

Two local officers from the Eastern Neighbourhood policing team remained on the estate to speak to residents.
