One nomination for Chief Minister

by isleofman.com 6th December 2006
After a second round of nominations for the job of Chief Minister, long-serving Castletown MHK Tony Brown will be the sole candidate vying for the top job in Manx politics a week tomorrow.

Nominations closed at 5pm today and, as expected, newly re-elected Speaker of the House of Keys Mr Brown entered the fray.

None of the three other candidates on the original shortlist, Michael MHK David Cannan, Health Minister Steve Rodan and Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin, are in the running.

Mr Shimmin polled the highest number of votes, twelve, during yesterday’s fourth and final ballot.
