Chief Minister update

by isleofman.com 5th December 2006
Tynwald will reconvene in nine days time for another attempt to choose the Island's next Chief Minister after the court's failure to do so today.

Earlier, President of Tynwald, Noel Cringle, presided over four votes by members, none of which were decisive for candidates David Cannan, Steve Rodan and John Shimmin.

The court then voted unanimously to suspend standing orders and meet again at 10.30am on December 14th to vote again.

All new nominations for the post must be in by 5pm tomorrow, with a candidate's statement of policy being supplied by close of business on Thursday.

It's believed, following today's stalemate, Speaker of the House of Keys and Castletown MHK, Tony Brown, may enter the race.
