Drink Drive Campaign

This year's festive anti-drink drive campaign asks 'who's getting you home this Christmas?'.

Launched this lunchtime, it combines an adapted version of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' recorded by Manx students, and a hard-hitting poster showing a hearse parked in front of a bus, taxi and emergency services vehicles.

The carols, by Ballakermeen and Castle Rushen pupils, will be played on TV and radio alongside advertising in the press.

During last year's campaign, 14 people were arrested and nine charged with being over the limit.

Road Safety Manager for the Department of Transport, Gordon Edwards, says it is difficult to come up with a different theme each year.

He says this year they decided to introduce a music flavour:
