The Island's six new MHK's will be sworn in at a special sitting of the House of Keys tomorrow (Tues).

Bill Malarkey from South Douglas, Geoff Corkish from West Douglas, Graham Cregeen from Malew and Santon, Onchan's David Quirk, Tim Crookall from Peel and Juan Watterson from Rushen will join the 18 candidates who successfully regained their seats, in a ceremony starting at 11am

All the members will be sworn in by Deemsters Kerruish and Doyle.

At 2.30 tomorrow (Tues) afternoon, the first sitting of the new House of Keys will take place at which the first item on the agenda will be the election of the Speaker of the House from amongst its members.

New MHK for West Douglas Geoff Corkish says he's very aware that an MHK will have to deal with national issues, even though he or she may have been voted in on the strength of their views on local issues (first audio clip)

David Quirk, a new MHK in Onchan, says he hopes in future there can be good communication between government and local authorities: (second audio clip)
