by isleofman.com 27th November 2006
The A22 Strang Road around the area of Sir George's Bridge will close at 9.15 this morning (Mon 27th) to allow a raw water main to be installed across the road.

The work forms part of the Isle of Man Water Authority's Crystal project which includes the building of the new Douglas Water treatment works and associated schemes.

The road will remain closed for just over two weeks, and is scheduled to re-open at 5pm on Friday 15th of December.

The bridge was named after Sir George Drinkwater, who donated ?100 to the cost of building the bridge in1836

The contractors, Island Drainage and Groundwork, are apologising for any inconvenience caused.
