A man has received facial injuries after being attacked in the early hours of this morning (Sat)

The incident happened near to Nobles Park at around 10 to 1 as he walked home from town.

He was followed by a group of 10 to 12 youths from the Park to the lane alongside Mountain View leading into Willaston where the assault took place.

Police are looking for a 16 to 18 year old man who's described as being of thin build with light coloured short curly hair.

He was wearing a light coloured jumper with white horizontal stripes and dark trousers.

It's thought his clothing may be bloodstained.

Police say it was a totally unprovoked attack which was witnessed by around ten youths . . some of whom were trying to stop it, and they are urging any of that group or anyone who may have information . to contact Willaston police on 674 744, or use the anonymous Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
