by isleofman.com 25th November 2006
The builder at the centre of the Julie Corkill trial has been given a 12 month conditional discharge.

In June - a few weeks before the trial began - 51 year-old Kelly admitted a charge of aiding and abetting Mrs Corkill to produce a document required by the Department of Tourism and Leisure.

He was due to be the key prosecution witness but suffered a heart attack during the trial and was still not well enough to attend court yesterday (Friday) to learn of his sentence.

Julie Corkill was subsequently convicted of three counts of false accounting and one of obtaining a ?47,000 tourism grant by deception.
