Success for Liberal Vannin

by isleofman.com 24th November 2006
The recently formed Liberal Vannin Party had its first success of the evening, when Bill Malarkey claimed the seat vacated by the retirement of Adrian Duggan in South Douglas.

But it was David Cretney who stormed to victory, enjoying the backing of the electorate for the sixth time, with more than twice as many votes as Mr Malarkey.

Of the unsuccessful candidates David Buttery was the closest to gaining a seat, missing out by 44 votes.

He was followed by Phil Kermode, Rodney Clarke, and Frank Schuengel.

Results: David Cretney, 1,873; Bill Malarkey (pictured), 873; David Buttery, 829; Phil Kermode, 399; Rodney Clarke, 361; and Frank Scheungel, 219.
