Environment Minister loses seat

The most dramatic result of the day came in Rushen, where 26 year old chartered accountant Juan Watterson topped the poll and Environment Minister John Rimington (1,048) lost his seat.

Mr Watterson (pictured) polled 2,430 votes, finishing well ahead of Phil Gawne (1,794) and Quintin Gill (1,689) who will both serve the constituency for five more years.

The other candidates were: Philip Crellin (1,432), Liberal Vannin candidate Tony Wright (1,000) and Adrian Tinkler (934).
