by isleofman.com 24th November 2006
There were no surprises in the first five constituencies to declare in the 2006 Isle of Man general election.

Long serving member Tony Brown (pictured, 915 votes) easily beat off the challenge of Liberal Vannin Party candidate Roy Redmayne (335) in Castletown.

In Michael David Cannan (1,062) comfortably beat Ron Berry (329) and in Garff Steve Rodan (1,400) defeated another Liberal Vannin member, Nigel Dobson (524).

Geoffrey Boot (529) put up a good showing against David Anderson (760) in Garff, but Mr Anderson reclaimed his seat.

And in Middle Martyn Quayle (936) was successful, with Liberal Vannin candidate Kate Beecroft (548) second and Andrew Jessopp (413) bottom of the poll.
