Death from alcoholic poisoning

by isleofman.com 23rd November 2006
An inquest has heard the Lieutenant Governor's housekeeper died from alcohol poisoning after an argument with her husband.

52 year old Josephine Johnson was found dead at her home in Keppel Road, Willaston on the morning of September 4.

Edward Oldham reports (text of attached audio):

Coroner Michael Moyle read a statement from Mrs Johnson's husband, Malcolm.

Mr Johnson said he had had an argument with his wife on the evening of September 3 and had left the house to go to the pub.

When he returned later he assumed his wife had decided to sleep in the spare bedroom to give him some space.

When Mr Johnson was due to leave for work the next morning and his wife hadn't appeared, he went into the spare bedroom, where he found her lying next to a radiator.

A forensic report revealed Mrs Johnson had a blood/alcohol level of 391milligrammes.

Mr Moyle recorded a verdict of accidental death due to self-induced alcohol poisoning.
