Early start a vote winner

Voting is continuing around the Island as the Island's electors go to the polls in the General Election.

Polling stations around the Island opened at 8am, two hours earlier than in the last general election and will remain open until 8 o'clock this evening

Up to 52,000 electors have the chance to choose the people they want to represent them in the House of Keys for the next five years.

Twenty-three seats are being contested by fifty-four candidates. Eddie Teare was returned unopposed in Ayre.

Speaking outside a polling station in Peel, Douglas Council Leader David Christian (pictured) told James Davis that he believes the earlier start has been beneficial:
