Plougher to be honoured

Around 30 people will gather at Scarlett on Saturday to honour the memory of a talented plougher.

Jean Burns moved to the north of the Island when she was a young girl, and died last year in her early eighties.

Ms Burns worked for Sir Charles Kerruish and was a keen horsewoman.

She was also selected to represent England in a World Plowing match in Sweden in 1955.

Organiser Ned Kennaugh, says a Mhelliah will follow the ploughing match, which will no doubt be taken very seriously:
