A 19 year old man has been jailed by the High Bailiff for three months.

Geoffrey Ronald Barber of Willaston Crescent, Douglas, appeared for sentence after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm on Brendan O'Loughlin and resisting police in the execution of their duty.

Stuart Peters reports:

(Text of attached audio)
The assault was committed at 12.40am on September 9th outside the Queen's Hotel in Douglas.

The defendant was abusive after being refused entry. He tried again to gain entry but was blocked by Mr O'Loughlin who he then punched.

Mr O'Loughlin sustained a cut lip and bruising.

The defendant ran off but was detained later. He tried to resist arrest and spat at one of the officers.

His advocate said Barber was not proud of himself. He was expecting custody and wished to apologise.
