Media accused of exaggerating

Rushen United Football Club are accusing the media of exaggerating the scale of disturbances at their ground on Saturday.

In a strongly-worded statement the Croit Lowey club has attacked Manx Radio and Isle of Man Newspapers for their coverage of the brawl, which began after Rushen's 2-1 defeat by St Mary's.

It's the club's first public statement on the affair - which is now being investigated by the Isle of Man Football Association and the Police.

Manx Radio's Sports Editor Tim Glover says coverage of events was backed up by reliable sources - and he stands by what the station has broadcast:
