RNLI Charity Day

by isleofman.com 21st November 2006
People living in the Isle of Man, the birthplace of the RNLI, are being invited to take part in the charity's national fundraising day next year.

Its third SOS (Save Our Soles) day will take place on 27th January, and everyone from school kids to office workers are being asked to ditch their formal footwear in favour of trainers.

All they have to do is donate one pound for the privilege, which will go towards the training of lifeboat crews at Douglas, Peel, Port Erin, Port St Mary and Ramsey.

The RNLI was established on the Island by Sir William Hillary in 1824.
