BA Connect facility to close

Workers at the BA Connect facility in Ronaldsway have been told to expect large numbers of redundancies as the site is to close. Talks were held between staff representatives and Flybe yesterday in Exeter and this morning those representatives revealed the plan to close the maintenance facility. The news will come as a serious blow to the Island’s economy with up to 350 job losses, although some staff could be redeployed to the UK. Rumours of the closure emerged on internet forums this morning but were dismissed by Trade and Industry Minister Alex Downie. This BA Connect worker says staff are in a sombre mood: (see attached audio)
