Westhead jailed

by isleofman.com 15th November 2006
A 23 year old man has been jailed by the High Bailiff for three months.

Michael John Westhead of Stanley Terrace, Douglas, admitted burglary at the 'Monkeynuts' shop on December 9th 2005.

Inspector Helen Mason, prosecuting, said the premises were broken into and a motorcycle was stolen. Blood found on a piece of glass was subsequently identified as Westhead's.

He was arrested in the UK last Friday following his release from prison there, and brought back to the Island.

He admitted that he took the bike but said the window was already smashed, and that he did not break it. He climbed in and had taken the bike.

His advocate said that it was a classic opportunistic theft. He took the bike because he was short of money but alcohol played a role in it.
