St John ambulance presentation

The wide-ranging work of the St. John Ambulance in the Isle of Man came under the spotlight at lunchtime.

The charity held a presentation at the Barool Suite in the new Parliamentary Buildings in Douglas.

Some of the Island's 300 volunteers were on hand to talk about its services, which amounted to over 11,000 unpaid man-hours last year.

Aside from providing emergency cover, it also runs a range of first aid based courses.

County Staff Officer, Mary Bridson, explains why it's so important for everyone to have basic life-saving skills:
