Call for more women in government

by isleofman.com 14th November 2006
A female member of the Isle of Man Legislative Council would like to see more women in government.

MLC Pam Crowe recently attended a Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference in Westminster with fellow LegCo member, Claire Christian.

Mrs Crowe says the issue of female empowerment was discussed, and feels the British Isles, the Island included, still needs to work on this.

She says 52% of the population is female, and would like to see that better represented in government.

But Mrs Crowe says this doesn't mean she favours positive discrimination.
