Solway Harvester inquest

The inquest into the deaths of the seven crew who lost their lives in the Solway Harvester tragedy will be formally called next Monday.

However, proceedings will be brief.

Coroner Michael Moyle will make a short statement before confirming that the hearing is adjourned to a date to be fixed.

The inquest had been due to re-open next week but will not because of difficulties involving the attendance of a key witness.

It’s almost seven years since the scallop dredger sank off the Manx coast in January 2000.

The Manx government paid ?1million to recover the vessel and the bodies of the men.

Journalist Mike Mackenzie, who's reported on the tragedy since it unfolded, told James Davis it's more distressing news for the fishing community in the Isle of Whithorn:
