Island remembers its war dead

Remembrance commemorations continue today (Sunday) with church services across the Island.

Manx Radio will broadcast from St Thomas' Church in Douglas this morning on both AM 1368 and FM 97.2 from 10.50am until 11.35am.

It will include a two minutes silence at 11 o'clock.

His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Sir Paul Haddacks, will attend a service and wreath laying ceremony in Onchan this morning, and a National Act of Remembrance at the Royal Chapel of St John at 3pm.

The Royal British Legion in the Isle of Man is currently trying to raise money to help build a monument at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Publicity officer for the Isle of Man county, Major Charles Wilson, hopes it will help raise awareness of the invaluable contribution made by the Armed Forces throughout the world:
