Sniffer dogs at sea terminal

An joint operation by Police and Customs and Excise officers reaped rewards yesterday afternoon.

They were there to meet passengers disembarking the SeaCat sailing from Liverpool.

Sniffer dogs also examined their bags and cars.

Two people were stopped and after being searched admitted they had been involved with drugs in the recent past but weren't carrying anything.

Four cars were searched but nothing was found.

However, a suitcase left on the carousel did contain a small quantity of cannabis.

Detective Sergeant Phil Shimmin from the Pro-Active Unit of the CID was in charge of the operation:
